    American Firefighter Flatlock Eagle" Hood

    Nomex/Aramid

The Flatlock Eagle™ Hoods are similar in design to the Flared hood but adds true flatlock stitching on the top of the head for added comfort. This style’s true flatlock top seam allows the helmet to rest firmly on the head and prevents the top seam from “digging in.” Its notched shoulders eliminate bunching under turnout coats.
They also employ rear gussets, to allow additional comfort at the shoulders while preserving a snug fit in the head section.

    Belt Bags/Bailout Systems

The Fire Innovations Yellow Jacket™ Belt Bags & Bailout Systems are designed as personal rope / escape bags. A special holder allows an eight-plate or O-ring to be pre-rigged and secured to the bag for rapid deployment. These bags can be secured to a truck belt or SCBA with a simple one-pull strap. After deployment, the rope can be easily stored in coils on the outside of the bag (using the bonnet) until the rope can be properly repacked.

    * Several rope lengths and diameter options
    * Two descending devices to choose from
    * High quality fire resistant and UV protection materials

    Rope Systems
These systems include a aluminum Red Gate™ carabiner and selected rope.

    Tagline Bag System
Fire Innovations Yellow Jacket YJS series bags are used in conjunction with the Innovations Yellow Jacket; YJL series bags to perform grid searches during large area search operations. YJS series bags are smaller, hand sized bags designed to accommodate 25' of 6.8mm Kevlar rope. Made from the same heat resistant, water repellant, UV light protection materials as our other Yellow Jacket series bags. The rope is carabineered to the bag making it easy to disconnect the rope from the bag and extend the search area with another rope. A carabineer attached to the running end of the 6.8mm rope makes it simple to attach to the main search rope.

    Bag System Includes
    * 25' of 6.8mm Technora™ rope
    * Two Red Gate™ carabineers

    The Original RIT BAG
The Original RIT bag uses the highest quality materials. Other bags made from Nylon or Polyester will quickly melt and burn. We use an extremely Heavy Duty cotton duck with a fire resistant coating. This material resists wear and tear unlike any other material and will not fail in high heat.

    WHIFFS - BRUSH PRO® MASK

The NEW & IMPROVED Whiffs Brush Pro Mask is now available. With the same proven technology as the original Brush Pro Mask, only with a sleeker design; the new & improved Whiffs Brush Pro Mask is easier to put on and take off. We’ve replaced the Velcro head strapping system with an elastic band made of Nomex ® material! Rather than using the ‘over the head’ strapping system, you’ll simply need to tie the elastic band behind your neck. It will no longer be necessary to remove your helmet or any other gear. The Whiffs – Brush Pro mask is made of Advance Nomex ®, which carries a 1050° heat rating. The breathing port of the mask is made of Nomex knitted hood material which also carries a 1050° heat rating. The Brush Pro mask is lined with blue Indura ® Ultra Soft ® cloth with a hydro lone finish. This material helps to wick moisture from the firefighters face and prevents the transfer of radiant heat to the skin. The Brush Pro mask is the most versatile mask we make. It is excellent for wildland firefighting and perfect for structural overhaul/mop-up. Its sleek design makes it comfortable to wear, even in hot climates. The black Velcro ® attachment point at the bridge of the nose on the outside of the Brush Pro mask should be used for attaching to the goggles. The other three Velcro attachment points on the OUTSIDE of the mask should be used for attaching the optional neck shroud. The Whiffs – Brush Pro Mask weighs 2.1 oz. It is machine washable in cold water, and should be hung to dry. (Xcaper ® filters, Whiffs Shroud, and Goggles are sold separately.) Each Brush Pro Mask comes with one Xcaper professional filter.

    Xcaper Enterprise Smoke Mask Kit

All the advantages of the Personal smoke mask product but has a longer shelf life and comes with an added whistle and led light.
The revolutionary Xcaper moist filter delivers unparalleled protection by absorbing hazardous toxins including Carbon Monoxide and nearly 100% of particulate matter common to smoke from fires. The moisturizing agent, a 100% all natural plant extract allows for easy breathing. (Kit includes: Xcaper Smoke Mask, Xcaper Goggle, Black Hip Pac 5 ½ “ x 5 ½ “, Dry Practice Filter). The Hip Pac is 2” wide when filled with all items, and has a zipper on top and Velcro® straps on the back for simple attachment to a belt. The kit also includes an LED Light (14 hours of burn time with more than 5 years of shelf-life) & Whistle (with black cord lanyard). This filter has a 5 year shelf life.

    XCAPER® High Altitude Filter (Black)

Like the Xcaper Professional Filter the High Altitude Filter delivers unparalleled protection by trapping particulate matter and absorbing hazardous gases common to smoke in wildland fires, structural fires, overhaul, arson investigation and various SWAT situations. The cloth of the filter passes the California E117 burn test, (direct flame for 38 seconds before the cloth will ignite). The contents of the filter include a combination of a proprietary, all-natural plant extract which is hypoallergenic, and styrene beads. This formula makes the Xcaper filter feel moist and cool to the touch. The gel will not steam, so there is no risk of steam burns. The styrene beads are used as a medium to trap the particulate matter and allow the filter to fit any shape or size face. Laboratory tests indicate that the Xcaper filter will trap anhydrite water-soluble gases such as Hydrogen Cyanide, Carbon Monoxide and Acrolein! The filter will last 8-12 hours in a wildland situation. For optimal performance, keep the Xcaper filter in its original vacuum sealed, airtight bag until ready to use. The High Altitude Filter is easier to breathe though in those situation where drawing breath is more difficult.

*Also available in a discounted six pack.

The filter will last 8-12 hours in a wildland situation. For optimal performance, keep the Xcaper filter in its original vacuum sealed, airtight bag until ready to use. The High Altitude Filter is easier to breathe though in those situation where drawing breath is more difficult.

Fire Innovations Receives 2009 Best of Petaluma Award by

U.S. Commerce Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

WASHINGTON D.C., June 8, 2009 -- Fire Innovations has been selected for the 2009 Best of Petaluma Award in the Fire Department Equipment & Supplies category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

Great customer service by Jeff Weffelmeyer

I have looked over the CD and am planning on just waiting for FDIC so I can look at your products and try them on first hand.  It is hard not being able to check out your stuff in person being in Missouri.  I am the type of person who likes to see and use something in person before I buy it.  I also want to say thank you for the follow up.  I have looked at several different companies and am most impressed by not only your products but also by your customer service.  It is above and beyond and that is one of the main reasons I will be buying your product in the near future.  Do you guys make any type of inside the pants class II harness?  I didn't know and from the looks of it your class II is not designed to worn inside the paints.  If you don't I am leaning towards one of the belts that have dual attachment point for the bailout system and the multi use strap.  Thanks again for your help and great customer service.  I will recommend your company to any of my coworkers and friends who are interested in a belt, harness, or bail out service.

    Thanks Again for everything,
    Jeff Weffelmeyer

Corona Fire Dept Gets Fire Innovations Belts by Reach Jerry Soifer

    June 5, 2008

Great Taste sweetens pot for public safety
CORONA: The event makes raising funds for police and fire equipment a delicious experience.

Because 2,000 people didn't watch their waistlines at the Great Taste last year, Corona's firefighters wear a stronger, potentially life-saving belt this year.

The 2,000 who sampled food from myriad restaurants at The Great Taste helped raise $40,000 for the Corona Fire Safety Foundation and the Corona Police Community Partnership.

The Fire Department used $20,000 of that money plus an additional $2,000 from the foundation to purchase 49 "Colorado belts" for use at structure fires and other potentially dangerous activities.

Corona police used their half of the Great Taste money to acquire a Czech shepherd for the K-9 unit.

"The Great Taste has enabled us to do so many things," said Sandy Klein, president of the partnership. "We donated $8,000 to buy equipment and supplies for the trailer that they are using for the dogs.

"Our next big purchase is to help buy four Segways for police patrol! ," Klein said.

This year, 24 restaurants will serve samples from their menu at The Great Taste, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 1250 Corona Point Court in Corona. Money is raised from ticket sales and sponsors.

Colorado belts are made of high-tensile-strength Kevlar and come with an attached bag holding 100 feet of rope that resists temperatures of as high as 1,000 degrees. Corona firefighters previously used leather belts.

The new belt enables firefighters to attach themselves more securely to an aerial ladder extending from a truck or to a ladder leaning against a building. If a firefighter working on the roof of a burning building becomes threatened, he can more securely lower himself to safety using the new belt and rope.

Firefighters also can hook unconscious victims to the belt to drag them to safety.

Fire Capt. Jim Steiner credited firefighter Paul Miramontez with doing the research that persuaded authorities to bu! y the belts. Miramontez said the belts are so highly regarded ! that fiv e Corona firefighters purchased them on their own before the department made the large purchase last year. Each belt costs about $400.

Rope bags, rope and additional hardware also were purchased with Great Taste money.

The belts have been assigned to the department's seven engines, two ladder trucks and one rescue truck.

Corona firefighter Justin Detmer said the belt was helpful for fighting a recent house fire in Norco.

Survival Training Tests Firefighters by BC Mike Haberski
This is a relatively simple exercise to set up and proctor and it has huge confidence building possibilites if conducted properly.  The intent is to put firefighters in a stressful survival situation with other crewmembers.  My experience with this drill is that it makes most participants ""sweat"" - in a good way.

A Special Note:  Only run this drill with individuals that have recieved prior survival training.  As training officers, we stand the very real chance of having this drill become a loser... a drill that de-motivates personnel because they have failed.
